Controlled Drugs

Is the way of combating drug use in the UK viable?
Should a zero tolerance policy be used to deal with drug addicts?
Should the Government concentrate on dealers rather than users?
Should they be legalised and regulated and the money ploughed into education?
Chief Constable of North Wales Police, Richard Brunstrom will be taking part on the programme in this area.
Let us know what you think or some questions you'd like to pose to him.
The above link will take you to Richard Brunstrom's blog in North Wales

Hi Richard

Could you perhaps tell us a bit about who Richard Brunstrom is? Or maybe highlight his name and attach a weblink to a relevant page on the web? Generally, the more links you can incorporate into your posts the better, so that we can use your blog to lead us out into relevant areas of research or further information.

Hello Richard,

I'm sorry but Mr Brunstrom has completely misunderstood the situation and obviously has never had any of his family caught up in the drug scene. I have and I had to mount a rescue to get my child away from these horrible people. I cannot understand why an otherwise respected senior police officer should propose such a thing, unless it is to ease the workload of his force.

Legalising drugs will have the same effect that easing the licensing laws have achieved. There we have violence, disorderly conduct and some even choking on their own vomit lying in the gutters. To legalise drugs will only dramatically increase that situation.

The way to ease the police load is to get rid of the paperwork and let police officers do what they do best, solving crime without hindrance from the do gooders.

To spend trillions dollars in about 40 years on a policy that was doomed to failure even before it was implemented is nothing short of criminal negligence. To use limited resources to round up harmless medical marijuana patients while "gangsters" engage in running gun battles endangering the lives of countless bystanders is nothing short of criminal insanity.

Haven't you seen enough abuses of civil rights by the criminal justice system, and do you think your children and grandchildren are really protected by the maintenance of a black market system of drug distribution?

How many more billions of your money are you willing to see spent around the world without any hope of success whatsoever? Do you really think it's possible to pay police officers and military units more than what the Cartels can offer?

Drugs are too dangerous to allow criminals to run the market, set the price and purity, and settle the trade disputes. If you truly wish to see less disease and death, less crime, less addiction, then remove the criminals from the equation; legalize, regulate and tax.
